Tell us about yourself in under 100 words:

I’m dedicated and enthusiastic about making a difference in areas I am passionate about- whether it’s at work or for a cause I believe in. I’m a workaholic by default, so I am constantly “working” at a better balance between career and home. I’m left-handed and Korean at heart, a Motion Picture Scores nerd, addicted to long distance running, a lover of adventure, a constant daydreamer, and a creative protein shake maker.

If you were talking on the phone to someone you had never met how would you describe your appearance?

Most likely wearing a new dress, gym attire, or a superhero themed T-Shirt. Blonde, multi-colored eyes, 5’8”, fit.

Have you ever struggled with a lack of confidence or insecurities?  If yes, please elaborate.

Ever since I can remember! I think the first time I looked in the mirror and felt insecure was at age 6. I remember feeling like a robot as a child. I grew up very sheltered and homeschooled K-8 in a bubble of a community heavily focused on having the “perfect Christian family.” Up until high school, I was very insecure about my personality and appearance, and only found confidence/reassurance in what people told me they liked or thought about me. When my parents suddenly divorced and everything that was pushed onto me became loose, things started to change. I finally had the opportunity to go to an actual school for my first year of high school. It was during this time when I started to want to learn about myself, who God had created, who I was meant to be, what I really liked to do, and what I found most important. Since I always wanted to make movies — somehow the Star Wars trilogy inspired me back in ’97 — the only thing I ever truly felt confident about was making movies someday. Now after recently turning 24, I definitely still have a lack of confidence and many more insecurities, but I’ve at least developed the ability to tune them out and focus on my strengths and self-improvement instead.

When do you feel most beautiful?

After a long distance run (currently training for a half marathon!) or after giving a surprise gift or time to someone I really care about.

What are your “Not Enough” feelings?

Not enough work done in a day, not fit enough, not funny enough, not creative enough, not confident enough, not wise enough.

If you were given the option to change your appearance would you?  If yes, what would you change?

I’m not sure…that’s difficult to answer. Option as in surgery or hiring a full-time super-pricey personal trainer/dietitian to figure me out (haha)? I am honestly blessed with what I’ve been given, but wish it was simpler to lose weight and not battle my thyroid condition as much, also am not a fan of having acne-prone skin…but that’s a genetics thing I can’t necessarily control. I’m grateful for the muscular strength I have though it may not fully show. I am most definitely a huge gym rat who constantly “switches it up.” Plus, being a taller than average, stocky, and athletic female certainly has its perks when it comes to feeling strong around men (don’t get picked on…as much!). Though I lack security in my image most of the time, I do believe I was given this body/appearance for a reason and the only way to change it is naturally- with confidence, time, and persistence. That change starts inside with consistency and never being afraid to try new things/habits/routines.

What are 5 things you love about yourself?

My capacity to love unconditionally, my consistency in all aspects of life, my work ethic, my passion to help others, and my strength.

I say cellulite, you think:

Eat cleaner, but we all have it regardless…unless you were blessed with rare genetics (always possible).

What is your message to other women out there?

When it comes to wanting something and not knowing how to get it, don’t be easily swayed or feel forced to follow the “norm.” Challenge yourself to truly realize your dreams by paving the way for your own ideas, though whatever it is might sound unrealistic to yourself and society (in other words, you don’t always have to approach a situation or goal realistically). Be resourceful and embrace the possibility of failure; many times it produces the best results. Whatever it is, no matter how big or small, make yourself proud.
