Describe yourself in under 100 words.

I am definitely a dream chaser, someone who dreams big all the time. Ever since I was young, I always had a lot of determination and ambition. Thinking outside of the box was always something that I was good at. I never like to stay stagnant when it comes to anything in life and I am always striving to achieve more.

If you had to describe your RAW shoot in one word what would it be?

REAL.

What do you love most about yourself?

What I love most about myself is my caring personality. That’s why I became a nurse because I love to take care of everyone whether they are strangers or loved ones. I like to go out of my way to make someone else feel they are loved and cared for.

Have you ever struggled with confidence, body image or insecurities in your life?

Yes, absolutely! Prior to losing all four of my limbs to bacterial meningitis, I would say I was a very confident person even as a child. Now it seems like I live in a world full of my insecurities. Dealing with my new life as a multiple amputee, wearing prosthetic limbs, is a huge change and can put a damper on one’s confidence. The transition from hospital to home was extremely challenging and that’s where I faced most of my issues with body image. I was slowly trying to get back to what would be my new normal and be part of society again. Even to this day, almost 2 1/2 years after my illness, I am still taking life day by day while slowly trying to accept my new body.

What does beautiful look like to you?

Beautiful to me doesn’t have  just one correct definition. Beauty is not just external, but also internal. Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors. A beautiful person is someone who shows confidence while being humble. Humility is the best asset a person can posses. While a simple smile on one’s face can be the best accessory a person can wear. Someone who holds their head up high during times of hardship. Someone who is smart and shows compassion for others.

When do you feel most beautiful?

I feel the most beautiful when I am at home with my family or out with my close friends. That’s where I feel the most comfortable and where I can best express myself more than any other place. Regardless of how I look during those times, I still have a lot of self acceptance which makes me feel beautiful.

What inspires you?

Life inspires me. Everything around me gives me hope and inspiration. I try hard not to take anything in life for granted no matter what is thrown at me since I almost lost my life. Being given  a second chance in life and having life as my inspiration, I strive each and every day to become a better person and to chase my dreams even harder.
