Describe yourself in under 100 words :
I am a jewelry designer for my two brands Lisbeth Jewelry and Birds of a Feather. I love animals, my family, being in the kitchen and creating. I am a very curious person and I am always learning about something new. I enjoy fashion and the arts. I love being outside.
If you had to describe your RAW shoot in one word what would it be? Fun!
Beauty can be defined in so many ways. What is your definition of ‘beautiful’?
It is difficult to define ‘beautiful’ because it comes in many forms but for me it would be kindness, self- awareness and thoughtfulness. Confidence is also beautiful.
When do you feel most beautiful?
When I am happy and healthy. When I am with my husband.
Have you ever struggled with confidence, body image or insecurities in your life?
I never really struggled with my body until I was in a boating accident that left part of my bottom slightly deformed. I remember putting on a bathing suit for the first time after the accident and feeling very insecure. I still don’t feel completely comfortable but I have worked accepting it and letting go because it is not something I am able to change.
Have you ever had cosmetic surgery or treatments?
No I haven’t. I am not really a fan.
You grew up with two older sisters. Was it ever difficult to carve your own path in life? What was it like growing up as the youngest of three girls?
I have never thought about that before. I think when I was younger I wanted to be like my older sisters and I suppose that put some pressure on myself. But I actually think it was easier for me having two older sisters. They were always so supportive, inclusive and encouraging. It really helped me feel safe as I grew into my own person. I do think that I grew up a lot quicker because I was always aware of what they were doing and wanted to be with them. That was probably the only negative. I wish I stayed younger longer.
What’s one thing you love about each of your sisters?
Miriam – she constantly supports me in everything that I do.
Emily – her unwavering devotion to our family.
Let’s talk Photoshop. What are your thoughts on this cultural phenomenon? Yay or nay?
I do think there is a place for it. It can be used in a very creative way and can create something beautiful. You just need to be aware and recognize that it is not reality.
What part of aging scares you the most?
Probably the fear that I wont be as engaged with the world around me.
What part of aging is the most exciting?
The knowledge and wisdom I will gain through my experiences.
On average how much do you spend each month on cosmetic items such as make-up, hair cuts/colouring, waxing, clothing, nails, tanning, creams etc.
How do we ensure that the next generation of girls grows up with confidence and a strong sense of self when they receive so many messages telling them that they are not enough?
I think a good approach is always education, encouragement and love. I also think it is important to be encouraged to engage in something that is bigger than oneself. I personally find when I am engaged in something that is important to me, the less I am concerned with myself and superficial things. There is something very powerful in that- it really puts things in perspective and helps build confidence.
When you were 5 what did you want to be when you were older?
I think an architect or a vet.
